Horace Wickenden, Mel’s art teacher, was instrumental in encouraging him to excel in the art field.
In March 1984 Mel Heath was accepted into the Federation of Canadian Artists and in April 1984 he was made a member of the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolor.
Since Heath began painting in earnest in 1951, his work has been reproduced in calendars, books and has been purchased by major art acquisitions in Canada and abroad.
